Jolene K. Gerell Memorial Endowment Fund

Established in 2015, the Jolene K. Gerell Memorial Endowment Fund ensures that Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i remains financially stable and continues to serve Hawai‘i communities. The fund is named in honor of Jolene Kim Gerell (1946-2015), who served as Board president for many years, and her commitment to mental health.

“Jolene was a most amazing and admirable woman. She focused all her energy into people and organizations she loved, and among them was the Samaritan Counseling Center. She completely embraced the inter-faith foundations of our counseling center from it’s beginnings,” says Terry Fisher, Co-Founder of Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i. “She welcomed input from a diverse Board of Directors, soliciting new ideas from our Buddhist, Catholic, Jewish, Christian sisters and brothers for guidance and support.”

“Convivial captures the spirit of Jolene Gerell.  She was bright and lively and helped those around her to transcend to levels of performance that would not otherwise be attained,” says The Rev. Dr. Gary C. Augustin, former Executive Director of Samaritan Counseling Center Hawai’i. “The Center is here because of her conviviality and it was and is infectious. Both the Board and Staff experience and exude this life breathing spirit.  It is what propels me to give my time and energy to the center.”
