Ho’omenemene 2016

Third Ho’omenemene Awards Fundraiser

Our Third Ho’omenemene Awards Banquet and Benefit Dinner was held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Manoa Grand Ballroom. The evening honored one individual and one organization, whose work over many years truly exemplifies what individuals and organizations can accomplish as interfaith advocates and active participants:

Mrs. Jolene Kim Gerell, one of the co-founders of Samaritan Counseling Center Hawaii

Project Dana, an organization serving the frail elderly and disabled, guided by the principle of “Dana”, which combines selfless giving and compassion without desire for recognition or reward, represented by its Executive Director, Rose Nakamura

The wonderful music for the evening was a compilation of songs and music that Ms. Gerell liked, arranged and played by Angie Delight, the music Master at the Church of the Crossroads. Choir members from the Church of the Crossroads performed Jolene’s favorite song, “Amazing Grace” for the family and guests.

The Center is extremely grateful and thankful for all who attended, donated items for our silent auction, and supported our mission, especially those individuals and organizations who took the leadership roles in purchasing tables for the evening:

The Gerell Family, Alakaina Foundation, Rev. Dr. Gary Augustin, Andrew and Maureen Bates, Father Larry Fisher, Rev. Yoshiaki Fujitani, Kathy Moore, O’ahu Jewish ‘Ohana, Project Dana, Dr. George Tanabe, United Church of Christ/Rev. Charles Buck

Mahalo for your continued support.
